Do you need a new roof?

We understand that making a decision as to whether you need a new roof or not can be difficult however Graves & Hobbs Ltd offer can provide a free roof inspection and give you a professional opinion on your options. To help you, we have put together a few telltale signs that it is time to invest in a new roof.

Missing roof tiles or slates

If you roof has a missing or worn tile, this may indicate areas of damp or leaks.

Check your attic/loft – Look out for beams of light striking through the top of the house or any leaks dripping through.

Check the flashing – The flashing is used around skylights, chimneys, and other openings to stop rain sneaking through. If there are cracks and breaks consider first whether this can be repaired before investing in new flashings.

Sagging flat and pitched roofs- Extreme weather conditions can pose a risk to some roofs, whereby the boards buckle and break under the impact of water which in turn can cause sagging. Roofs can then become a unsafe structure and cause damage to the interior of your property.

Rot – if you notice sagging in your roof it could be a sign of rotting boards or trapped moisture and it poses a big risk.

Look for moss – If moss is growing on your rooftop it could be a sign of trapped moisture, which isn’t good. Consider having your roof cleaned with a fungicidal roof wash.
